Parenting in 2 Worlds

Parenting in 2 Worlds

Parenting in 2 Worlds (P2W) is a culturally grounded, evidence-based curriculum co-created with American Indian communities to strengthen family relationships, build parenting skills, and support the health and well-being of teens.

Overview

Parenting in 2 Worlds (P2W) is an evidence-based curriculum designed by and for American Indian and Alaska Native families with teenagers ages 12 to 17. The program focuses on strengthening family relationships and building practical parenting skills that support youth well-being while reducing risks tied to mental health challenges, substance use, and other risky behaviors.

P2W was adapted from the Families Preparing a New Generation curriculum through a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) process in partnership with urban American Indian and Alaska Native communities in three Arizona cities. The adaptation reflects American Indian worldviews, cultural traditions, and values related to parenting and raising children, with an emphasis on fostering strong, healthy family relationships.
